How to verify a certificate, report fraud and applicable sanctions.
RefurbCertified actively combats certificate counterfeiting and label misuse. This document describes the verification and reporting procedure available to everyone.
Only the public registry is authoritative
A PDF, image or copied badge proves nothing. Always verify at /verify with the certificate number or scan the official QR code.
Verify a certificate
Verification is free, account-free and available 24/7.
- Go to /verify and enter the certificate number (e.g. RC-2026-XXXX)
- Scan the QR code on the official RefurbCertified certificate
- Use the live widget — only data loaded from our servers is authentic
- Check status: valid, expired or suspended, with dates and certified criteria
Report a suspicious certificate
Gather evidence
Site URL, screenshots, certificate number claimed, description of suspicious use.
Submit report
Via « Report a problem » form on the certificate /verify page, or email abuse@refurbcertified.com.
Acknowledgement
Within 48 business hours. A report reference is provided.
Investigation & action
Cross-check, contact identified organisation if applicable, certificate suspension or public notice if fraud confirmed.
Report handling
- Priority for reports involving consumers or marketplaces
- Investigation within 10 business days for substantiated cases
- Coordination with authorities possible for commercial fraud
- « Suspended » status published on registry for confirmed counterfeiting
Sanctions
- Immediate certificate suspension or withdrawal
- Status published on /verify for all to see
- Prohibition of RefurbCertified label use
- Notification to partner platforms and marketplaces
- Civil or criminal proceedings depending on severity and jurisdiction
